Nibakure Community Village teen mother’s sewing program

Nibakure Community Village teen mother’s sewing program

From Floriane Nibakure

Sewing classes for rural teen mothers. The first class has been a great success. We are hoping that with your support, we will be able to start training the second class that we hope to start in October 2023.

The plan is to train a new group of 20 teen mothers in sewing, handcrafting and business skills that will serve them and their families to enhance their welfare.

The funds will be used to run the school, feed teen mothers, pay teachers, and buy sewing machines and other materials needed to make this project a success. As an incentive to students, each graduate receives a sewing machine upon completion of the program.

If we are blessed with securing recurring funding, we will be able to train 20 teen mothers each year who will be fed breakfast and lunch five days a week. We hope to receive your support and make this project a success.

This program also encourages discussion of taboo issues such as domestic violence, gender equality, sexual harassment, and reproductive health. This project serves as a platform to give a voice to teen mothers of Kanazi who feel excluded and have limited access to opportunities

As with the first class, working with the second class of teen mothers we will be creating a peaceful and financially independent society.

Thank you so much for your consideration!
