Ranking the greatest Premier League teams ever will certainly stir debate, given how much football has changed over three decades.

Some fans may be shocked to see Chelsea at #1, but it truly deserves recognition as an extraordinary team. Their goal difference (+79), points margin (19), and winning a record 32 games was truly astounding and only ever conceded defeat once!

1. Manchester United

Assuming we put tribal allegiances aside (which should happen), few can argue against this incredible team. They scored an astonishing 106 goals en route to winning the Premier League with five games remaining, outscoring second-placed Liverpool by 19 points and boasting the best goal differential of any Premier League team while winning every away matchup without ever trailing after their opening home fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Key Player: Thierry Henry won every league game with 30 goals!

Ferguson-era United had already completed three trebles before this one and are still the only English club to win both Champions League and FA Cup titles in one season; unlike Guardiola-led City squad which still have not taken home a European trophy.

2. Chelsea

Chelsea are undisputedly one of England's most successful clubs, boasting six Premier League titles, eight FA Cups and five League Cups to their credit. Furthermore, two UEFA Champions League titles and the Europa League crown make them London's only club to achieve such an unprecedented European treble victory.

Many consider the 2004-05 Premier League winning squad one of their finest ever. Led by John Terry and featuring Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba as midfielders; Joe Cole, Hernan Crespo and Michael Essien providing strength in depth; as well as an incredible defense which only conceded 15 goals all season; they accomplished greatness under John's command.

3. Manchester City

Manchester City dominated 2021-22 English Premier League season by amassing an astonishing 93 points and winning it by 19-points, making their eighth top-flight season victory theirs in one. Under Pep Guardiola's tutelage Kevin De Bruyne reached his attacking peak while Sergio Aguero matured into one of its deadliest strikers.

This was an epic title race that went down to the last day, with 25 different leaders changing positions before City's 2-0 win against West Ham secured them victory and secured their championship crown. City produced some breathtaking football that broke multiple records during this incredible campaign.

Many may question our ranking of this team so low, but our focus here has been solely on their league form (not their European triumphs). There could easily be debate about placing 1998-99 treble winners Manchester United higher on our list; even Arsenal's 2003-04 Invincibles could make their case.

4. Arsenal

Many may question why we ranked Arsenal so lowly after winning three trebles, but our ranking takes league form into account and this was an outstanding team that elevated football to new heights. Led by Thierry Henry with his extraordinary goal-scoring prowess and exceptional wide men like Dennis Bergkamp and Freddie Ljungberg as wide men; with Patrick Vieira and Sol Campbell holding up their ends.

They dominated the Premier League with an 18-point margin over second-place Manchester United - making their victory record breaking and earning them widespread respect from fans across England. Only 12 games were lost during their championship win - an achievement fans remember fondly today as part of what is regarded as "Invincibles'".

5. Leicester City

When most people think of "the greatest Premier League teams ever", they might imagine Pep Guardiola's dominant force, Manchester United's treble-winning squad and Arsenal's invincibles as being on that list; but one cannot discount Leicester City as being worthy contenders in that regard.

Costing only one-third of what the highest-paid squad in the league did that year, they outshone expectations with regards to goals scored and defensive efficiency. Led by Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez - scoring 13 and 10 respectively while also providing N'Golo Kante as an additional striker respectively - their success story stands the test of time.

Kasper Schmeichel stood out with his exceptional goalkeeping performance - earning himself the Golden Glove with 20 clean sheets, more than any player before him in Premier League history.
