I am fundraising for my husband.  The donations will go toward his retirement fund due to his health problems.

Earlier in his teaching career, our family ran into a very difficult time in our lives. My husband has always taken care of our three children and me. I did not work at the time.  I was a stay-at-home mom for many years raising our children. He was out of teaching for a year, and we had nowhere to stay (we were homeless).

He had to withdraw his entire Teachers Retirement System money out of my retirement account just to take care of us. He took out his Georgia TRS money, which allowed us to stay in a hotel and get food until he found another teaching position the following school year.

He has not been able to purchase his years back after he withdrew the money from his account through the years since he was the only one working in our home. He withdrew $16,000 at the time but over the years, his TRS buyback purchase amount has grown to $115,000 because of interest. It is time for him to retire now but he only has 13 years of purchased years in his TRS account unfortunately now.  For him to retire with 30 years of teaching experience, he needs to purchase the rest of his years back and the cost of his years is $97,000.

He has made a very positive impact on a lot of student's lives throughout his career.

His students love to take his PE and Health classes!  They have learned so much from him and often come back to let him know how their lives have changed by taking his classes.

He has started having health problems now and needs to retire.

Please support my cause, follow my progress, and share it with your friends.
