Hey everyone! My name is Brianna Lindsay. I am a 5th year Graduate student concluding my School Counseling Masters program, from Mercer University, at the end of this year in December. Unfortunately, in my program, there are no December graduation ceremonies BUT there will be one for my class in May of 2024 so you can look out for your graduation invitations in a few months.
Mercer University’s Department of Counseling and the Center for the Study of Narrative are hosting the 10th Narrative Theory Holland Study Abroad, taking place February 29 – March 9, 2024 (Spring Break). I am also required to register for a 3 hr elective course, in Narrative Theory, building upon introductory counseling theory and post-modern approaches, including narrative therapy. The majority of the program is international and based in Leiden, Holland (aka The Netherlands), however we also take a day trip to Amsterdam and a 3 day/night trip to Paris. Highlights include a seminar with Stichting Counselling Nederland, visits to the Anne Frank House and Vincent Van Gough Museum in Amsterdam, the Escher Museum and Peace Palace and International Court of Justice in The Hague, and the Louvre in Paris.
Since I will be done in my program during this trip, I will need to reapply as a non-degree seeking student. However, this means that I will mot receive financial aid. So, the funds that I receive will go towards tuition costs, total trip cost (which includes air fare, hotels, train tickets, museums), and extra funds for food while traveling.
My passion in life lies in understanding students and changing educators' perspectives on only catering to students needs the way they know how but embracing that every student acts different, every student learns different, and every student needs different type of attention in order to feel cared about.
I really need you all's help! Because I went into school full time, there were not alot of places that were able to hire me on my school schedule so I wasn't able to receive pay or save any money towards my home bills or my schooling for an entire year and six months. I wouldn't ask if this wasn't extremely important to me.
