African American Museum of Bucks County and Parx Feature

A romantic Valentine's Day-themed fundraiser will take place at Parx Casino on February 9th from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event called “Building our Dream with Love” will be a musical tribute to honor Luther Vandross and celebrate his soulful love songs. The audience will enjoy live performances, special guests, delicious food, and dancing. 

About the venue

The fundraising event will be held at the Parx East building in Bensalem, adjacent to Parx Casino. Tickets for the event are priced at $150 per person. The price includes hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, desserts, and a $25 voucher for the casino’s slot machines. Like many other land-based casinos, Parx also offers online casinos. They allow players the convenience of playing casino games using apps on their mobile phones. 

Parx is proud to help sponsor the African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC). It considers it an important legacy and an asset to the Bucks County Community. Philadelphia-based vocalist Jeff Murrell and his band will perform, and Kim Sledge of Sister Sledge fame will make a special guest appearance. The charismatic Donald Schuler Jr. will host the event.        

About AAMBC

The African American Museum of Bucks County is a non-profit organization with a significant mission. It preserves, interprets, and promotes the culture and history of African Americans in Bucks County. 

The rich rappers of America may be well known, but other African Americans with interesting stories can go under the radar. The AAMBC’s programs and exhibits honor the rich legacy of the African American experience. They share the stories and information about Bucks County that could otherwise go unknown. 

Future home at Boone Farm

The AAMBC has been operating as a mobile museum since it was founded ten years ago. It is currently raising capital for its permanent future home at Boone Farm. In the 1920s and 1930s, Boone Farm employed African Americans moving from Southern States to Northern ones. Having steady jobs allowed them to raise their children and have a better life. 

The current goal is to raise $2 million. The funds will transform the historic stone building in Langhome into an operating museum. The new museum will feature state-of-the-art technology and enticing displays. There will also be a classroom and a library to help educate visitors about the African American experience in Bucks County.

The AAMBC is known for its work in promoting African American creatives. African music has managed to cross over into the vaster pop culture, and individual artists are flourishing on world stages with the Afro beats evolution. 

Supporting the “Building our Dream with Love” event at Parx will allow guests to mingle, eat, drink, dance, and enjoy the music of one of the most successful R&B artists of all time. This vocalist, songwriter, and performer inspired many other African American artists over the years.
